Meal 1

Tonight I took on the task of my first fresh meal. I took on the challenge of Maniladas with White Cheese and Roasted Tomatillo Sauce.

This is a very labor intensive meal. The one short cut you can have is buying a cooked chicken. It was awesome because I finally got to try one from work. Then you rip the chicken apart and make the stuffing for the manicotti. Then you roast the tomatillos and onions. After roasting you blend them to make a sauce. I also made my first cheese sauce. It was awesome. Im doing good.

Monday!

Its Monday. Yeah Monday right? Today has had a good start. I am eating a healthy breakfast of Oatmeal. I love my oatmeal. Then I will have some cheese when I get to work because I know the oatmeal won't last four hours!

Two other things that I am doing to get healthy... I am starting today with stretching each morning. This morning it was a quick and simple stretch with my legs and arms. Just enough to feel it.

The other thing is my skin and teeth. I have never really taken care of my skin because I have not had to. I am trying the skin care line from Jafra. One of my friends is selling it so I thought I would give it a try. I can say I love it because it make my face feel so soft. I am also brushing my teeth at night which I really haven't done on a regular basis.

Are these important to my health? I think so but more in the head than physically.

Hopefully my Nike+ comes soon so I can start walking/running!

Day 1

This blog is for me to start the process of getting healthy. I have been watching Jamie Oliver's Fod Revolution and I cannot seem to get it off my brain.

As a supermarket checker I see all the different foods that come through my check stand and think about everything as it does. I see the stuff that Jamie has said is bad for kids in their school lunches and it makes me cringe. I for example had a store bought box dinner tonight and just had to think about it as it went into my mouth. I could read most of the things that were on the box but really... how good is it for me if it has so many things that I cannot even read.

My roommate is into healthy almost vegitarian eating with as organic as possible. Some of the things she eats, like tofu, I really don't foresee myself eating but having veggie stir fry instead of red meat seems a little healthier. Also working from a fresher pallet and less instant seems like a plan for now.

I have also decided to take on the challenge of running. As of now I don't think I could run a quarter of a mile without dying unless my life was actually on the line. I have the goal of running a marathon for my 30th birthday. It is just over four years away. I know that is a long ways away but if I set a goal hopefully I can get there. To start this goal I have joined the Nike+ community and gotten their ipod accessory so that I can track my progress.

My plan with this blog is to post my workout goals and progress. I also would like to start posting reciepies that I like to have a place to find good food.
